New director for Midlands group

A Midlands event group has appointed a new Business Development Director – but he’s already a familiar face.

Dominic Fleming has joined the Southwater Event Group, which is made up of The International Centre, Telford, three hotels and an events production company.

And staff and customers already know him well as he has previously worked at The International Centre as Sales Manager.

“I am very pleased to be here at the Southwater Event Group, and I’m looking forward to selling the excellent facilities and services the group has to offer,” said Dominic, who will also represent the Group at national level on the AEV board.

He has worked in the events industry for 13 years, including positions at the NEC in Birmingham and Ricoh Arena, and has organised events all over the UK, from London to Glasgow.

“My primary aim is to focus on the already highly successful businesses we have in the group, and develop them still further,” he said.

“It’s an exciting time to be part of this company as we’re on the threshold of multi-million pound plans to create a dynamic convention quarter with The International Centre at its heart.

“And I’m sure the development plans will be of great interest to existing and potential new customers, so I’m keen to spread the news as far as possible.”

Southwater Event Group Chief Executive, Tom Gray, said: “Dominic’s experience in the industry will prove invaluable in helping us to promote our services to the widest audience, and his appointment is a real boost for our growing sales team.”

As well as The International Centre, the Southwater Event Group includes The International Hotel, The Holiday Inn, and Grays Hotel, which are all in Telford, and StagecraftUK.

Two new faces join the team

Two new sales staff with a wealth of experience have joined one of the Midlands’ fastest growing event groups.

Southwater Event Group has appointed Justin Dilks and Sarah Tennant to sell its services across the UK.

The Group is made up of The International Centre, Telford, three hotels, and an event production company, and is on the threshold of multi-million pound plans to create a dynamic and thriving convention quarter, with a new hotel, restaurants and bars.

Chief Executive Tom Gray said: “We are a growing company with an exciting future, and we’re delighted to welcome Justin and Sarah to our team.

“It’s vital that we promote our services to event organisers all over the UK, and our two newest appointments will play an important role in the business.”

Justin, who is from Telford, will focus on sales for The International Centre, targeting conference and events organisers, and has worked in the industry for 14 years.

“As well as working for Moat House and Choice, I have also worked as a venue finder for clients using anything from budget chains to five-star venues on Park Lane in Central London.

“And this is how I came across the International Centre, and developed a great rapport with their sales team. I have visited over 700 venues in the last five years, and the International Centre is easily one of the best.

“When the opportunity arose to come and join their team, coupled with the fact that I could work in my home town, it was one of the easiest decisions I have ever had to make.”

Sarah has over 20 years’ sales and customer service experience with an in-depth knowledge of the Telford market and hotel industry.

She has worked with many blue chip companies on major buying programmes, and her industry knowledge is a valuable asset for the Southwater Event Group.

“I’ll be concentrating on hotel booking sales, and I’m delighted to be part of the Southwater Event Group team with such exciting times ahead,” she said.
